Walking Wings - A proposal for a Counter Monument as a Fair

Are mega structures, huge metropolises, and metal and glass our only options to attract tourism and make them centers of economic and financial growth? Why cannot structures and events be sustainable and sensitive to cultures and aspirations?

This proposal came from a protest against the political schemes and agendas of the bodies in the center. To bring a fair into existence. The Bangle worn by the Women of these communities was a major idea behind the infrastructure and design of this Mela. Every ring would represent not only the cultural identities of these people via shows, workshops, and the local eateries but represent these people who have been ignored and help them claim the long-overdue respect. The right to be and occupy the land of their ancestors. At the center of this ring would be a stage that will house shows and protests that voice the needs of the community.

The walking wings are a material thought. The wings represent home. The bare spine behind the ornate being shows that these sects of people are not just words, they have a spine, not like the once that pillage and raid in the name of nationhood and development, it's all a folly. These authorities are spineless. The Detachable head shows how there is not just one face to these people, but it is indeed in fierce emotion. Artists and craftsmen can come and replace this head, which will represent different emotions, sects, and issues. The tongue sticking out is a direct nod to the cultural roots of the people that live in harmony with nature under the bare sky. This needed to be erected for it has no name, it represents all of the tribe as one. It is a counter to the huge statues built over the lands and rights of the minorities. The statue would be created at about 10 feet in height. It would be created from fiberglass and resin. But it doesn’t always have to be a statue, this attire can be made and dressed, and be represented on the stage in shows that will take place in the center of the Bangel. The motive is to let people vent and create and tell stories. To accept these people as they are and let them show us their way of life.
